Artwork by Kerry Ferguson

Meet Kerry Ferguson

I am a Cancer survivor and a member of Wellspring Alberta.

Art has been a part of my life since I was about 10 years old. I signed up for every school art club and every weekend art group that I could find growing up. I went on to get my Graphic Arts certificate from Fanshawe College in London Ontario and worked in the art departments of various Graphic Art companies and print shops in London and later in Calgary. As a pen and ink and watercolor artist I enjoy form, tone, shadow, texture and detail.

After staying home to raise my family for several years I retrained to work as an Educational Assistant. I worked with Special needs students and English Language Learners. Art always managed to creep into my time with students as art transcends language barriers and learning challenges.

In December 2021, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. My surgery, radiation and recovery happened in January through May of 2022. In June 2022 my husband passed away after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. A tough year… but being invited to join Wellspring was my saving grace. I found peace, companionship and understanding with many who were walking the same journey through cancer as I was.  But equally important, Wellspring brought me back to my art.
