As a patient with a rare blood cancer (myeloproliferative neoplasm), Wellspring gave me an even rarer opportunity to explore my creative side through Felt Images and Zentangle. With zero art experience, I challenged myself to grow, express and confront challenging emotions around the diagnosis. I entered a world of beauty, color and adventure, which culminated in a week-long felt painting course in Scotland, my homeland. Art is a distraction from pain, suffering, and loneliness as Wellspring friends and other creatives have become my new family of support and encouragement. I am grateful for this new-found love of art and expression as I traverse an incurable cancer journey. It gives me purpose and a bright silver lining.
